On June 13, 2022, three months & 6 days after all other children were able to remove masks in NYC schools, toddlers finally had their first mask-optional day of the school year.

A big thanks to parents and other advocates who didn’t give up on the toddlers!

The higher 0-4 group rates are deeply skewed by children younger than 1, who, while not required to wear masks, are more likely to be hospitalized for COVID.

Mayor Adams' toddler mask mandate requires only children aged 2-5 in daycare & preschool to wear masks. This is illogical & anti-science. These children are at no higher COVID risk than children 5 & older.

The Toddler Mask Mandate also goes against CDC guidance which does not tie pediatric age groups to unmasking.

On March 7th, it was safe enough to unmask our schoolchildren.

On June 13th, we finally unmasked our toddlers.
